Jade The Moon

The sonic union between Vancouver’s Jade Moon and Toronto production duo Bad Cop//Mean Cop seems like it was a destined collision on the darkest highway imaginable. Now with a new album out (Habits and Hindrance on Culvert Music), the latest single from the album, “U Take Care,” conveys love shrouded in a cover of selfish doom, which makes for an alluring tale to be witness to.

With an abnormally long intro for a pop song, at first you may think “U Take Care” is going to be a full, electronic instrumental piece, the bobbing synth beats and electronic woodwinds that float through a mist give way to the wraithlike voice of Moon. A video for the song portrays a chase and protection by a dark force, so maybe in the grand scheme of things, the darkness isn’t so much to be avoided after all. Joey Smith
