Directed by Giulia McGauren, the video for Gordi’s “I’m Done” is inspired by the Bernini sculpture Apollo and Daphne. The track, which is taken from Reservoir, out now on Jagjaguwar, is a woven blend of subtle, eclectic styles that simmer in harmony. Gordi lays building blocks with purpose while the environment of the track grows with each decisive step.

McGauren’s video represents a union splitting apart while one party attempts to cling to what was. A struggle is depicted through tense, but connective, movement before our protagonist seems to free herself. But can one ever truly be freed from such experiences?

As this interpretation closes, it’s left to the viewer to decide, adding an elevated poignancy to the work.
