Our latest video of the week takes us on yet another journey into society’s shallow depths. Directed by Laurie Lynch, Oscar’s “Daffodil Days” tells the story of a young man from the wrong side of the tracks who’s simply trying to make his way through love and life like the rest of us, except that he also happens to suffer from epilepsy.

Albeit visually engaging in its own distinct way, the video is shot with an economy that places focus squarely on the music and the action onscreen. If we had to describe the visual aesthetic, we’d say that it’s something like a fever dream meets documentary. The song itself – by London singer / songwriter Oscar – oozes melody, but not without a hard edge that lends it a sense of pathos, one that no doubt inspired the video’s overall concept. MB
