“Dumb Love” is the debut track of Neil Frances, a new electropop outfit based out of Los Angeles. The project got started as a result of Frances writing pop music for female vocalists in early 2016, only to realize that he preferred the raw, original versions of their demos.

From there, he set out to record an album and the rest is history. He’s already begun to garner some buzz through the early support of KCRW after catching his band at one of their first ever gigs in LA.

Though we don’t know what aforementioned female artists Frances was writing for, we can attest to his knack for crafting a pop hook — if “Dumb Love” is any indication. Opening with a soft, falsetto Rhye-esque vocal, when the beat drops at the 15 second mark you know you’re in for a treat. This lighthearted, effervescent tune supposedly speaks to the apathy of long-term, long-distance relationships, according to the press release.

Look out for new music from Neil Frances as he plans to drop some more gems throughout the remainder of 2017.
