Giselle Mynx

When you hear that opening percussion along with Giselle Mynx’s voice, you'd be forgiven for getting a little dizzy. The pounding toms scream indie rock, while Mynx’s voice and the piano work are saying something else – a bit early-60s pop with a nice dash of modern neo-folk. But before we get ahead of ourselves, here’s a quick recap on Giselle Mynx. She’s a veritable Renaissance woman – singer, artist, songwriter, model, etc. It’s actually the type of background you would expect from someone performing a song like “Sprung Free”.

The track is a bit of a buffer, or maybe somewhat of a middle ground between hot and cold. Within the track, there’s a sense of romanticism and cuteness that doesn’t fall into the trap of being overly eye-roll inducing. “Faster, faster we sprung this town; let the world hear our sound – louder, louder we sing our song; soon the world will sing along.” And if there’s something the world needs, it’s a song to sing along to. What makes the song so alluring is the musical movements - there’s almost a Broadway-esque presence to the transitions and scene creation.

We’re not sure what’s next for Giselle Mynx, but it’ll be interesting to see what lies ahead. JS
