Although only in their infancy, Arbitraire seem to possess a clear vision of what they’re working towards and what the aim of their overall sound is meant to be. “C,” the outfit’s latest release, is minimal in length but striking in its briefness. This is probably best explained by the diverse backgrounds of the three members – backgrounds that you can hear the influences of throughout the single.

I’m not sure which member represents the varying backgrounds (hip-hop, jazz, and electronic), but you can hear the sultry freestyles of jazz, the pulsating rhythmic inclinations of electronic, and the steady deepness that may anchor a more mellow hip-hop track. The vocals elevate the track towards the positivity the trio is striving for with the project, and the abrupt ending serves as an invitation towards a desire to hear more. JS
