“Veer” is our first introduction to Barcelona-born, London-based Fins Ara. It’s also the first single from the upcoming EP A Love, Elusive. What an introduction it is.

A piano slides across the floor, dragging itself ever so softly. A deep stretch and breath can be imagined. Matching the tone of the music, the voice is tilted towards lo-fidelity, which demands an increased need for attention.

The words have a certain anthropomorphic quality to them in which the listener can close their eyes and create their own imagery. “I want to be with you, but…” touches on isolation and a realization that settles in coldly.

Yet there’s hope. And you feel it. Maybe not instantaneously, but you do. On a delicate dance between partners, the minimalism of the track has a specific purpose. It’s a purpose we’ll keep watching.
