Directed by Peter Edlund, our latest video of the week is beautiful, sad and poignant all at the same time. Set in a gay conversion camp during the 1960’s, Erik Blood’s “Chase the Clouds” explores the latent cruelty involved in forcing one to change their true nature, and casts this narrative in a hazy nostalgic tone synonymous with the time period.

But perhaps more than this, the video also showcases the enduring power of hope in the human spirit, and how even in the face of suppression and intolerance, hope always takes precedence. The song, by Seattle’s Blood, has a dreamlike and otherworldly quality that especially shines in the final third, and is complemented well by the period setting and tone of the visuals. Top marks all around. Dillon M. Banda
